One can’t help but wonder whether Phil Dunphy, a skilled Realtor himself, would have sold it at full ask. For the show’s pilot episode, a different property was used as the home of the Pritchett-Tucker family. The house last sold in 2013 for a whopping $$7,430,074 (which amounts to $1,168/sqft), but its value has increased significantly since then (and a longtime screen presence as the flashiest house on Modern Family didn’t hurt).

The concrete home overlooks the Pacific Ocean and has striking features, an expansive lawn on either side, and plenty of privacy for the ultra-famous family of five. The sale was brokered by Kurt Rappaport, a celebrity real estate agent of the Westside Estate Agency, who represented both the buyer and the seller in the sale. The colossal home spans nearly eight acres and has a private beach, infinity pool that seems to stretch off into the ocean, and Zen water features. According to Dirt, more than 22,500 square feet of polished pervious concrete was used for the estate’s driveaway and motor courts alone. For the home, it’s estimated that more than 7,645 cubic yards of concrete was used.

The Jay Sebring house is located at 9820 Easton Drive in Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles, California. Jay was a celebrity hairstylist with a star-studded client list that included the likes of Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, and Quincy Jones. It last sold in 2014, fetching a nice $2.14 million, after initially being listed for $2.35 million.

Though he works on a grand scale, McClean isn’t interested in hotels or commercial projects. He grew up outside Dublin to working-class parents, in a row house around 600 square feet—about the size of many of the his-and-hers bathrooms he designs today. Around age four, he became fascinated with houses; at his local and school library he discovered Frank Lloyd Wright, Rudolph Schindler, and Richard Neutra as well as Frank Israel. The listing stated the property was an 8,300 square foot lot with a house offering two bedrooms. It also features a large living/kitchen/dining area and a delightful sun porch.

The article speculates that the encounter wasn't just a dream, but actually, a premonition predicting her and Sebring's heartbreaking fate. Though Tate's family and friends vehemently deny that she ever had any such premonition, the article has to lead many to believe that perhaps the ghost of Paul Bern returned to the home as a warning of what was to come. Commonly referred to as the Harlow/Bern House, the home gets its name from the original owners, actress Jean Harlow and her husband, movie producer Paul Bern.

Record deals and tax-avoidance maneuvers: Southern California’s priciest sales of 2023

The real-life property that serves as Jay’s house was built in 1992 and features 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms across its 6,359 square feet of living space. Knowles and Jay-Z, who’s real name is Shawn Carter, purchased a sprawling $200 million Malibu, California estate. They reportedly got a discount, as the home was privately listed for $295 million. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the mansion spans 30,000 square feet and reportedly took more than a decade and a half to finish. The seller is notable Los Angeles art collector Bill Bell, Jr., who is the heir to a soap opera fortune.

It has its own history in Hollywood prior to it’s new found fame thanks to Beyonce. Known as La Villa Contenta, this estate was portrayed as the domicile of the Vampire Queen on HBO’s hit drama True Blood. Every aspect of the outdoor design complements the natural beauty of Beverly Hills, creating a haven of tranquility and luxury. The integration of these features with the surrounding environment showcases a deep understanding of harmonious design principles.

Jay Leno‘s journey from a small-town boy to one of America’s most beloved television personalities is a tale of perseverance, humor, and undeniable talent. Born in New Rochelle, New York, and raised in Andover, Massachusetts, Leno’s early life was marked by an unwavering interest in comedy and a deep appreciation for cars. His educational path, though not conventional for a future celebrity, was instrumental in shaping his unique comedic style.

So in keeping with that European style, we thought they’d appreciate this 10-bedroom Mediterranean beauty, also in Beverly Hills. The home isn’t completely foreign to Bey and Jay — they rented it last summer on a short-term lease. But one too many nights in the Beverly Hills Hotel had the family itching for something a little more private. TMZ.com recently reported that the couple is paying $150,000 a month for a ritzy Holmby Hills mansion and signed a year lease.

Not too far away sits an outdoor kitchen, along with burnt brown high chairs and a tiki bar, which must come in handy at family barbecues. Beyoncé and Jay-Z's backyard follows a clean aesthetic with ceramic tiles and glossy black marble walls that take over the space. The floor of the backyard has a rustic vibe with graded taupe-coloured stone detailing, and large windows spread across the area allow the California sun to brighten up their home on sunny days. On multiple occasions, Beyoncé has stepped out in her backyard after getting dressed for events for a quick shoot for her ’gram. A fairly traditional American couple, Phil and Claire’s characters and tastes are very much reflected in their living space.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly just bought a house that—between the price, the size, and the world-class architectural pedigree—would break any design lover’s soul. The mega-mansion spans nearly 40,000 square feet and required 7,645 cubic yards of concrete, according to Morley Construction Co., the project’s contractor. It was featured in the 1998 cult-classic The Big Lebowski as Jeffery Lebowski’s mansion.

This infamous Gold Coast house was built by MGM chief Louis B. Mayer, later owned by actor Peter Lawford, and said to have hosted JFK/Marilyn Monroe trysts. Lennon rented the house with girlfriend May Pang during his year-and-a-half-long "Lost Weekend" and produced Harry Nilsson's Pussy Cats there; he hosted Nilsson and Keith Moon there, and made nice with McCartney. The hip-hop power couple stole the record from their new neighbor, billionaire venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, who paid $177 million for the home right next door in 2021. Featuring an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a dedicated room for massages, a spa and a steam room, the amenities are like that of a 5-star resort. It has all the decadence you’d expect from a home owned, or rented, by the musical power-couple. Plenty of trees, lush vegetation, and tall hedges surrounding the home also offer lots of privacy, something of which celebrities tend to seek out when looking for a place to call home.

The historic deal redefines the luxury market in Southern California, which has slowed down so far this year in the wake of the red-hot pandemic housing market. It also marks another feather in the cap for the affluent enclave of Paradise Cove, which has emerged as one of the most valuable stretches of land in the entire country. Jay-Z and Beyoncé just shattered California’s price record, paying $200 million for a striking concrete compound overlooking the ocean in Malibu, according to TMZ.

Commissioned by soap opera legends William and Maria Bell in 1999, the structure was designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando. The Bell House, as it is known by the contractors who constructed it, took 15 years to build. She can be seen walking along Venice Beach with her yellow lab mix in tow, staring off into the sky hoping that looking uninterested and deep will get her discovered.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, best known as just Beyoncé, is a much-loved name in every country across the globe, and for good reason. The couple was married for just two months before tragedy struck—on September 5th, 1932, Paul Bern was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the head and a 38 caliber revolver in his hand. His body was discovered by house staff who, rather than calling the police, immediately contacted executives at MGM, the studio where Bern worked. Though his death was ultimately ruled a suicide by police, many—including some of Bern's colleagues in the film industry—believe he was actually murdered and that the studio covered it up to save Harlow's career. Whichever the case, Bern wouldn't be the last owner of the home to suffer an untimely death. This home actually has an elevator as well, but seeing as it’s made of glass, Solange will have to be on her best behavior.

The colossal concrete compound sits on 8 acres of pristine land off the Southern California coast and has its own private beach, swimming pool, and a water feature in addition to the 40,000 square foot residence. In October 2017, public records show the couple is still dumping money into the mansion. They have taken out 2 permits – one to install a backup generator, and the other to add a living space below the pool to the tune of $750,000. Beyonce owns not only an incredible, 30,000 square foot estate in Bel Air, CA worth $88 million, but also owns a massive mega mansion in East Hamptons, New York. However, Sebring was not the only celebrity to live there and suffer terrible luck, movie star Jean Harlow also lived in the property, when her husband was found dead in what was deemed a suicide. With this image of Jay-Z with rapper P Diddy, which was shared in 2019, Beyoncé gave us a glimpse into her living room. You’ll spot ash grey carpets, glass panels, white-washed walls and a large piano taking centre stage here. A teal blue velvet couch with metallic gold frames adds a subtle hint of colour to the space. The 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom duplex is almost a century old, having been built in 1929. While there are no recent sales on record, the multifamily property is worth around $2 million. It’s now worth well over $10 million, with real estate portals like Zillow.com estimating its value around $11 million, while Redfin.com places it at around $11.5 million.

His father, William J. Bell, created the iconic soap operas The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Times, Bell purchased the property in the late 1990s for $14.5 million and enlisted Ando to create a modernist glass-and-concrete structure. He’s considered one of the biggest art collectors in the world, with numerous works of art by Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Marcel Duchamp, and many more. The new Blue Jay Way home, at 8,000 square feet, is by no means the grandest of McClean’s designs, which can come with six-digit square footages and nine-digit price tags. The style is a take on the area’s iconic midcentury modern, metaphorically pumped up with steroids and silicone to a scale that would make Rudolph Schindler, a pioneer of the modernist Hollywood house, blush.

It was last on the market for $65 million when Jamie McCourt decided to sell the home. It was purchased by a mysterious “British Billionaire” for $45 million in 2014, which is who Beyoncé and Jay Z rented from. After having their previous rental sold out from under them, Beyoncé and Jay Z landed this massive estate in the heart of Beverly Hills for the same price. Formerly owned by ex-Los Angeles Dodgers owner Jamie McCourt, the Carters paid a reported $150,000 per month for this swanky Beverly Hills mansion. With this purchase, the Carter’s have spent a whopping $114 million in 2017 on real estate deals from coast to coast. Developer Tyrone McKillen bought the lot and previous home for $15 million in 2015.

Wraparound floor-to-ceiling glass walls all peel away; there are pools for each level; the views make the word panoramic seem insufficient. The total size of Beyonce and Jay Z’s house, which they purchased for $2.6 million, is 13,292 square feet.

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z are known for breaking records, and now, they’ve broken the record for purchasing the most expensive home in California’s history. George Harrison reportedly stayed at this house, which belonged to friend and Gift of Fear author Gavin de Becker, during his last days in 2001. The Beatles were big Elvis fans and their manager, Brian Epstein, and Presley's, Colonel Tom Parker, finally arranged a meeting late on August 27, 1965 at Presley's rented house in Bel Air. It was reportedly kind of awkward, but they joked around, had a jam session, and John and Elvis even talked "about Peter Sellers and favorite scenes from Dr. Strangelove." Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency handled both ends of the deal, TMZ reported.

“Opus,” a Trousdale mansion originally listed for $100 million and developed by Niami and designed by McLean, is now $85 million. At “Opus,” an $85-million slab of marble and gold on Hillcrest, in Trousdale, McClean shows me how he designed a full-size, subterranean swimming pool beneath a massive skylight. McClean tends to design long, skinny pools—multiple per property, despite the fact that California has been suffering from a severe drought since 2014—that take advantage of the jagged lots he builds on. And nearby is “the obligatory movie theater,” McClean says as we enter the plush room. While the carriage house doesn’t hold anywhere near as much history as the main house, this part of the property has been on the market more recently.

While there are many lights fitted into the ceiling, the true life of this house meets the eye during the daytime. The expansive windows on the walls let tons of sunlight in to make the entire house bright and lively. The location of the dining room also makes this house a really unique experience for anyone who visits.

Even Van Helsing had a hard time convincing his peers — and the authorities — of supernatural goings-on in the 1800s, and that became increasingly difficult in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Also, like Verbena trágica, the Library of Congress selected Drácula for preservation in the National Film Registry, finding it “culturally, historically, or esthetically significant”. Drácula is an interesting example how film esthetics (the horror genre), an innovation (sound) and the business of the Dream Factory intersect in cinema history. We shall also meet an endless stream of new character including Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin), a mysterious healer from Harrenhal, who plays a pivotal role in the book. Ser Simon Strong (Simon Russell Beale) will step up as Castellan of Harrenhal, Ser Gwayne Hightower (Freddie Fox) will surface as Otto Hightower’s son, and Alyn of Hull (Abubakar Salim) will follow up on his work in the Stepstones campaign.

Billed as the first spinoff of many, House of the Dragon released to near-universal praise in 2022, which resulted in HBO greenlighting it for a second season. The Spanish version was shot between October and November 1930, using the same sets of the English version, starring Hungarian-born Bela Lugosi (the vampire reference par excellence) as Count Dracula and Helen Chandler as Mina, the virginal English woman who becomes his victim. In an interesting choice of casting by producer Paul Kohner, in charge of the foreign-version productions at Universal, a very young Mexican actress, Lupita Tovar became Mina’s Hispanic version, Eva, equally virginal looking, but costumed in sexy outfits. In her charming memoir, published in 2011, Lupita Tovar devotes a chapter to her second film for Universal, after establishing herself in La voluntad del muerto (1930), the Spanish version of The Cat Creeps. Later, Bryant hears Jennie's voice beckoning him in the woods near the train station.

Apart from the scene with the female vampires, however, who provokes a strange desire in him to be kissed by those red lips, Harker is not attacked in any way. The Count induces him to stay for a much longer time than planned and write some letters home to appease his employer and his fiancée Mina Murray. Harker scales the walls of the castle himself, enters the Count's empty room, and discovers a crypt in the chapel, wherein fifty boxes with earth are stored; in one of them, he finds the Count, who has just fed on blood.

The war will consume all of the Seven Kingdoms — major Westerosi houses will forge alliances with either Targaryen faction. Max, formerly HBO Max, has confirmed that House of the Dragon’s second season will be released on June 16, 2024. As is typical for network shows, you’ll have to wait for each episode to air one week at a time. If you hate suspense and would rather binge the entire season, you’ll have to wait until August 4, which is when the final episode airs.

Upon its initial release, Dracula received mixed reviews but gained popularity over time, eventually becoming a classic. The novel's eerie atmosphere, compelling characters, and innovative use of the vampire mythos contributed to its lasting legacy. Stoker's meticulous research into Eastern European folklore and his skillful narrative structure captivated readers and inspired countless adaptations in various media.Dracula's Guest, considered a part of the Dracula canon, was published posthumously in 1914, two years after Stoker's death. The short story is believed to be a deleted chapter from the original manuscript of Dracula. The tale further solidifies Stoker's reputation as a master of horror, showcasing his ability to craft chilling narratives that continue to captivate audiences to this day.

Simultaneously, Rachel leaves the party and flees to the abandoned mineshaft to visit Bellac. As Meierman drives a stake through Jennie's heart, killing her, Bellac collapses before Rachel. Tim arrives at the mineshaft, having followed Rachel there, and finds her hysterical. Bellac momentarily hypnotizes Tim, but Tim approaches him with Jennie's crucifix, forcing Bellac to fall into a shaft below.

Yet whereas the first season charted the mistakes that were made (mainly by King Viserys, RIP) that led to the dominoes being lined up, this season pits the two teams — Black (Targaryen) and Green (Hightower) — against each other atop dragons. So, we’ll see the “Dance of the Dragons,” so nicknamed by the civilians of Westeros, take place with mass casualties as a result. Another horror movie actor who would give his own suave style and gravitas to the Dracula canon would be the Englishman Christopher Lee who mostly portrayed villains and the blacker side of morally-grey characters throughout his decades-long career. The original 1897 novel is set in numerous places throughout England and continental Europe - largely areas under the control of Austria-Hungary at the time.

The Return of Dracula is a 1958 American horror film directed by Paul Landres, and starring Francis Lederer, Norma Eberhardt, and Ray Stricklyn. It follows Dracula, who murders an artist aboard a train in Central Europe, and proceeds to impersonate the man, traveling to meet with his extended family in a small California town. With that said, this series has been plotted out for four seasons, and that plan could change, but it’s unlikely that we will see the entire war take place in Season 2. Hopefully, we will at least see the inevitable showdown between Daemon and (Mini-Me) Aemond, and if that plot point follows the Fire and Blood book, both men should be very afraid. Without revealing too much about the events of season 2, know that Rhaenyra will be looking to exact revenge for her son’s death at the hands of Prince Aemond’s dragon, Vhagar. This will eventually unfold into a much larger battle, culminating in The Dance of the Dragons.

One night, when he falls asleep in a forbidden room, he is harassed by the three Brides of Dracula, who are interrupted by a furious Count, claiming the guest for himself.

Harker tries to hit him with a shovel, but the blow is diverted by the Count's hypnotic powers. Harker remains in the castle with the seductive female vampires but finally manages to escape to Budapest, where he is taken care of by Sister Agatha. Tim arrives moments later, and Rachel leaves with him to the party in a trance-like state. Whitfield and Meierman confront Rachel at the party, asking her to help them entrap Bellac. After finding Jennie's crypt empty, Meierman, Whitfield, and other police stake out the cemetery, where they soon witness Jennie returning to her crypt.

Meanwhile, Dracula becomes infatuated with Miliza and decides to remain a vampire. During his next blood transfusion, Dracula hypnotizes Edelman and Nina, then infects the surgeon with his own blood. Historian Gregory Mank described it as "the final serious entry of Universal's Frankenstein saga".[3] It received predominantly negative reviews in its early New York screenings, while retrospective reviews have been predominantly lukewarm. House of Dracula is a 1945 American horror film released and distributed by Universal Pictures. Directed by Erle C. Kenton, the film features several Universal Horror properties meeting as they had done in the 1944 film House of Frankenstein. The film is set at the castle home of Dr. Franz Edelmann, who is visited first by Count Dracula and later by Larry Talbot, the Wolf Man, who are trying to cure their vampirism and lycanthropy, respectively.

The film would pave the way for AIP’s other popular modern-day bloodsucker, BLACULA (which repurposes footage of Yorga’s coffin making its way stateside) as well as 1973’s SCREAM BLACULA, SCREAM. Quarry would appear in another independent production, THE DEATHMASTER in 1973 which featured the actor as a vampire hippie guru modeled after Charles Manson. One final note, the grandchildren of Lupita Tovar and Paul Kohner, the filmmakers Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy A Better Life, Fatherhood) are writing and directing Spanish Dracula, what else but the love story of their grandparents and the filming of the Spanish version. Game of Thrones captivated audiences like almost no other TV series since the turn of the century, but its final season left us with a disappointing ending. Luckily, we only had to wait a couple of years before HBO would announce a prequel series titled House of the Dragon.

Season one opens with King Viserys struggling to name a successor for his seat on the Iron Throne. He didn’t have a male heir in line nor was he willing to hand the reigns over to his volatile brother, Daemon. After much deliberation, Viserys finally chose his daughter Rhaenyra in a desperate bid to keep the Targaryen rule intact. Viserys’ decision to name a female heir was unusual in a male-dominated lineage, causing him to draw criticism from far and wide.

Talbot is eventually cured, which leads him to discover the body of Frankenstein's monster in a cave below the base of the castle. Edelemann takes the monster's body back to his laboratory but finds Count Dracula has awakened and by attacking his assistants, he captures Edelmann and forces a reverse blood transfusion, which gives Edelmann a split personality and makes him a killer. Bram Stoker's Dracula, published in 1897, stands as a seminal work in the Gothic horror genre and has left an indelible mark on popular culture. The novel, written in an epistolary format, recounts the story of Count Dracula's attempt to move from Transylvania to England to spread the undead curse.

More than a low-budget footnote, COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE is a highly influential take on the vampire mythos, eschewing spooky Victorian castles by bringing the bloodsuckers to contemporary Los Angeles. Its gory, sexy modern sensibility would go on to inspire American International Pictures’ releases throughout the ’70s, as well as ‘80s vampire classics and beyond. Count Dracula arrives at the seaside Visarian home of Dr. Franz Edelman, a renowned surgeon, in hopes of finding a cure for his vampirism. After viewing Dracula's coffin and discovering an unknown parasite in his blood, the initially skeptical Edelman agrees to take the vampire's case.

The doctor kills Holtz by accidental electrocution, and Talbot shoots Edelmann dead. Talbot starts a fire that traps the monster and the townspeople flee the burning castle. Count Dracula arrives at the castle home of Dr. Franz Edelmann and explains he has come to Visaria to find a cure for his vampirism. Dr. Edelmann agrees to help, believing a series of blood transfusions may heal him.

That excised chapter is presented here in its original place, leading into the classic narrative as an added enjoyment for devoted Dracula readers. One would think a movie called the “best horror film of the year” by Gene Siskel of the Chicago Tribune would end up on countless “greatest horror films” lists. Yet COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE has found itself a B-movie oddity, relegated to late, late showings on UHF stations throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s and all but forgotten — if ever seen — by a generation that reveled in the modern horror era of slashers and special makeup effects.

Despondent at the thought of becoming the Wolf Man again, Talbot attempts suicide by jumping into the ocean, only to end up in a cave below the castle. The ‘80s saw a slew of modern-day vampire tales with Tony Scott’s THE HUNGER bringing them to New York’s goth scene, NEAR DARK to the Wild West, and FRIGHT NIGHT transporting the legend even closer to home—next door to a suburban teenage horror fan. Fifty years — and countless modern takes on vampire legends from comic books to television to film — it’s easy to overlook its influence, but COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE remains an influential vampire flick that fans of the genre should sink their teeth into. YORGA was a surprise hit for AIP in the summer of 1970, appealing to both audiences and critics. In addition to Siskel’s glowing review for the Chicago Tribune, Roger Greenspun of the New York Times called Quarry “the best chief vampire I have seen in years.” Kenneth Thompson of The Monthly Film Bulletin praised the acting and direction, comparing YORGA to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

1970 saw Christopher Lee return as Count Dracula in not one but two Hammer entries, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA and SCARS OF DRACULA. Meanwhile, in-house director Roy Ward Baker directed Ingrid Pitt in THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, which featured explicit lesbian eroticism. The times were a-changing, and audiences found themselves growing bored with the boilerplate vampire tales that low-budget studios had been cranking out through the ‘60s.

The film was developed initially with the title Wolf Man vs. Dracula to be directed by Ford Beebe with Bela Lugosi reprising his role of Count Dracula. After actor Boris Karloff returned for a two-film deal with Universal and several requests from the censorship board, the film was put on hold for nearly six months. House of Dracula went into production directed by Kenton with a screenplay by Edward T. Lowe, who took elements from the Wolf Man vs. Dracula script while adding in Frankenstein's monster (from Frankenstein) to the plot. Many cast and crew members returned from House of Frankenstein, including John Carradine in the role of Count Dracula, Glenn Strange as the monster, and Lon Chaney Jr. as both the Wolf Man and Larry Talbot. The film uses large sections of music from previous Universal feature films and footage, sets and props from other early Universal horror films.

Foodie Guide to Festive Gingerbread Houses, Displays 2023

grand floridian gingerbread house

I sure hope so because that’s exactly what you can expect to find at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, and even aboard the high seas on Disney Cruise Line during the holiday season. A true staple of both locations’ holiday festivities, these gingerbread displays are truly amazing. After months of hard work and creativity from the talented culinary teams, these displays are brought to life before our very eyes and are well worth the visit. Not that it was ever in doubt, the Grand Floridian is once again a must-visit resort during the holiday season at Walt Disney World with the return of the gingerbread house. After you check out the Grand Floridian gingerbread house construction, be sure to hop on the monorail to see if the other gingerbread displays are finished at other Deluxe resorts. Now, let’s blast off to Disney’s Contemporary Resort where their gingerbread display is back once again for its 12th year led by Pastry Chef Jeff Barnes!

A sign lists the ingredients used to construct the house including 1,050 lbs of honey, 600 lbs of powdered sugar, and 700 lbs of chocolate. Of course, while almost everything on the house is edible, you shouldn’t try to eat it. But gingerbread shingles and other treats are available for purchase from the house.

Since Christmas is, at its core, a holiday about caging birds, there are thankfully still a few of those in the tree. The Grand Gift Box will include many holiday favorite treats in one beautifully decorated box. The Disney Pastry Chefs version is a red velvet cake covered in dark chocolate buttercream. Red poinsettia flowers and a “Happy Holidays” placard decorate the top. Speaking of having a cup of hot chocolate – make it easy and delicious with this set of four hot chocolate bombs. Put one of these in a mug and pour over hot milk or if you really want a decadent cup of hot chocolate — light cream — and wait for the magic to happen.

Disney Eats: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Foodie Guide 2024

After I finished a few errands at Magic Kingdom, I decided I needed to burn a few calories after having such a hearty breakfast. So I thought I’d try my luck and walk over to the Grand Floridian to see if the gingerbread house was finished, landscaping and all. Let’s tour around this gingerbread masterpiece, and we’ll point out some of our favorite details! The EARidescent colors of Disney World’s 50th Celebration made their way into the design, with blue and gold accents everywhere, including a lot of blue plants around the house. Each of the offerings this year are just as stunning as the house itself. A fan-favorite offering each year is actually the Gingerbread Shingle, which is just like the shingles you’ll find on the roof of the house.

Given that it’s also Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, we’re betting on a decent amount of changes to the resort decor packages. Is visiting the Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa a holiday tradition? The traditional yule log cake is a sponge cake filled and rolled with buttercream. One end is cut off and placed on top to resemble a cut-off branch. It is then decorated with powdered sugar and meringue mushrooms.

DON'T MISS A MOMENTOF HOLIDAY MAGIC

Alternatively, if you have other reasons to be on Disney property, you can get to the hotel via Disney transportation from all four parks and from Disney Springs (Disney Springs, by the way, has free parking). You might enjoy the create-your-own gingerbread ornament kit for those who love arts, crafts, and food. For example, the white bar above the shop window is for a metal sign plaque that has not yet arrived.

Part of the spectacle of Christmas at Disney World is the gingerbread creations that manifest at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Chief among these is the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House—a life-sized gingerbread house filled with festive Cast Members ready to serve holiday treats. This gingerbread house truly is enormous, and it’s quite a sight! If you have time to stop by Grand Floridian during your holiday visit, it’s totally worth it. The sides of the house are covered in gingerbread siding, and the roofs have snow-dusted gingerbread shingles. Above the windows are decorative elements, including slates with Disney characters in various holiday scenes.

While the Gingerbread Ornament is a great option, it’s meant for decor and not a snack. It took 500 hours to bake the gingerbread, 480 hours of decorating, and over three days to construct it. And if you look closely, you’ll find lots of hidden gems, nods to classic Disney, and even hidden Santas. If you want a special treat to take home, the signature gingerbread house is $85.00.

Take home a piece of the magic (or eat it before you even get out of the lobby) with the purchase of a gingerbread shingle, just like those on the house. Aside from gingerbread, the other popular flavor of the season is peppermint. These shards of peppermint bark of dark and white chocolate with crushed peppermint candies sprinkled on top – will hit the spot. Whether you’re getting this for yourself or leaving it out for Santa on Christmas Eve, this gingerbread man has white chocolate eyes and mouth, and two red candy buttons.

That received almost zero fanfare, but was a nice improvement. Grand Floridian’s Victorian decor was refined and elegant prior to the refresh, but arguably a bit tired and (unintentionally) dated. Holiday Services has quietly been refreshing Christmas decoration packages around Walt Disney World for the last few years, and it’ll be interesting to see what gets plussed this year.

While I was taking photos, a bride and groom dressed as Princess Aurora and Prince Philip were having their pictures taken in the lobby. As for the gingerbread house, the second time around was a charm. Around the back of the house is the shop where you can purchase your holiday treats (complete with 50th celebration welcome mat!). Inside, the gingerbread house is stocked with everything from cupcakes to gingerbread shingles.

Cast members will take shifts inside the house, selling holiday treats between now and January 1, 2024. Check out the full lineup of gingerbread displays at Walt Disney World Resort, which will each open in the next few weeks. With just a couple of days to go until its official opening, this year’s gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa appears to be complete. Of all the things to make out of gingerbread, a bar probably isn’t the first to come to mind. Adults enjoyed Santa’s Tavern, the life-size bar made from 1400 pounds of cookie dough, which served seasonal cocktails including a classic mule spiced up with gingerbread liqueur.

If you want photos like mine in this post, going late at night is a must. This traditional German Christmas bread is typically a fruit bread of nuts, spices, and dried or candied fruit, coated with powdered sugar or icing sugar and often containing marzipan. During the Christmas season, the cake-like loaves are called Weihnachtsstollen or Christstollen. After all, it’s the reason for the house in the first place — a gingerbread shingle.

We love seeing celebrities have the time of their lives in Disney World, but they're... We noticed a weird trend in Disney World crowds, so we headed to the parks... There is electricity on inside and some of the first decor has started to go up. This year, the color palette is red and silver, with plenty of poinsettias and small silver wreath details.

This last Sunday afternoon, I visited Disney’s Grand Floridian, hoping that the gingerbread display was finished. Unfortunately, while the structure was completed, the landscaping had yet to be added. In this article, we visit Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to preview the 2022 gingerbread house.

The ship, manned by 10 nautical characters created with color fondant, paid tribute to the legends and lore of historic Amelia Island. When it comes to creating massive, one-of-a-kind houses (and more!) for the holidays, pastry chefs, and even architects pull out all the stops at these U.S. hotels pull out all the stops. Joining this impressive lineup this year is the Lighthouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. This brand-new creation was created by Pastry Chef de Cuisine Michael Craig who used the actual blueprints from the real lighthouse located outside the resort along Crescent Lake. This sweet version is not to be missed on your gingerbread festivities this year.

Will you be visiting this display at Disney’s Grand Floridian this holiday season? Last year’s gingerbread house had a color scheme to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will have a gingerbread display for the first time this year, either in place of or in addition to its usual train village. There will also be gingerbread displays at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which have all had them in years past.

One such display is now officially open and we’re taking you with us to check it out. Grand Floridian Resort’s gingerbread house has officially opened, and will operate daily throughout the Christmas 2021 season.

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary, this gingerbread cookie ornament has Mickey and Minnie sharing a kiss under fireworks. The edge of the cookie is completely covered in anniversary sprinkles. A twist on an old favorite — this is a cream-filled gingerbread and latte whoopie pie with a “GF” Grand Floridian chocolate medallion on top. As you can see, no discounts will be applied for any of these treats. At one end of the display is an information board showing photos of how the house was constructed. The entrance to the house has two porches with gold railings and trim.

Throughout this holiday season, grab your loved ones and get ready to see some gingerbread! There’s truly no limit to the ways you can celebrate the holidays at Disney Parks. The gingerbread displays are not just found on land – they’re also taking to the high seas with the Disney Cruise Line fleet! It wouldn’t be the holidays without fudge, and this one hits the spot. A generous bar of milk chocolate fudge with pecans and 50th Anniversary holiday sprinkles on top. As seen here, the house is transported to the Walt Disney World Tree Farm, where it provides some much-needed energy and food for already endangered honeybees. Reflecting the spirit of the 50th Anniversary, this gorgeous chocolate Santa Claus is sporting an ice blue Santa suit trimmed in white fur cuffs and hem.

With plenty of hidden details, and maybe even some hidden Mickeys, you can easily come back again and again to experience these gingerbread creations. The holiday season is kicking into high gear in Disney World! Decorations are going up everywhere, holiday food will be hitting the menus soon, and there are a bunch of awesome gingerbread displays on the way. The “Grand Gingerbread House is a large gingerbread replica of the hotel displayed in the lobby. Welcome foolish mortals to a gingerbread display unlike any seen before. Found within the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland park, a few ghosts have made room for a dazzling display this season.

It is packaged in cellophane and tied with a lavender grosgrain ribbon. As many people have asked, there is a slide presentation of what happens when they take the gingerbread house down after the Christmas holidays. To the right of the bakery window is a digital screen showing images of various gingerbread houses throughout the years. The only caveat is that you have to get to Grand Floridian, and you can’t just show up in your car and say you want to see the gingerbread house. To park at Grand Floridian, you either need to be a guest of the hotel or have a reservation at one of its restaurants.

The Victorian gingerbread house features several porches decorated with snowmen, nutcrackers, more miniature Santa’s, and other festive figurines. It took 340 hours to build the property’s 2017 display, which featured a replica of D.C. Included were a 3.5-foot-tall Washington Monument, a reflecting pool, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the U.S. A few trees had already been placed on the house’s balcony. Red and silver decorations line the house’s rooves and windows.

Signature Stollen Bread with Marzipan – $25.00 (in red box)

There are 24 hidden Mickeys on the house, honoring 24 years of the display. The TV screen mounted on the back of the house displays the menu and photos of the available items. The shop is at the back of the house, with red rope creating the queue. The house is dusted with white sugar to make it look like snow has fallen on the roof. The gingerbread shingles and other edible pieces are stuck to a frame using icing. The house is located on the first floor of the resort lobby, directly across from the main entrance.

It’s a delicious, well-spiced cookie that is only made better by the bottom being dipped in chocolate. On the backside of the house, facing the gardens and lagoon, is the actual bakery where guests can purchase treats to snack on or take home for gifts. The large triple windows on this side, give guests a glimpse of inside the shop as the elves (Cast Members) busily work selling treats. But the flagship event of the season is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party—and our guide has you covered with everything you need to know. Or check out the quick version in our 12 Tips for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Grand Floridian’s gingerbread display officially opens on November 9, 2022.

If you don’t have the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World over the holidays, I hope you’ll enjoy the photos and the rest of our upcoming holiday resort coverage. A few days ago, Cast Members started assembling the gingerbread house, attaching cookie shingles with giant piping bags of icing. The video was posted last year, so shows the gingerbread house decked out with 50th anniversary decorations. Above the windows of the gingerbread house are murals of classic Disney characters in wintry scenes.

FSBO.com — which stands for For Sale By Owner — cuts out real estate agents altogether and connects buyers and sellers directly. There’s more risk, but if you’re looking to save money and work directly with a seller, this site makes the most sense. Realtor.com functions as a search engine both for homes and real estate agents. The real estate giant pioneered the concept of an instant home value estimate with the Zestimate, which pairs public data with user-provided information to put a price tag on any property.

It’s not as straightforward as the traditional home-buying process, but if you don’t mind a project, it’s an alternative entry into a market that can be brutally expensive. Realtor.com’s system seems a bit more equitable, and a simple ZIP Code search will show how many homes an agent has listed and how many that person has sold. You can also search by credentials; for example, you can see only agents who’ve received certifications such as “Real Estate Negotiation Expert” or “At Home With Diversity,” two of many distinctions awarded by the National Assn. of Realtors. For the casual shopper, these sites are a fun jaunt into the market, a voyeuristic way to spend an afternoon. But to the grizzled veteran who loved and lost, the one who has been outbid countless times, scrolling through listings becomes work. At this point, you’ll want to find the fastest, most efficient way to narrow your search.
