I sure hope so because that’s exactly what you can expect to find at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, and even aboard the high seas on Disney Cruise Line during the holiday season. A true staple of both locations’ holiday festivities, these gingerbread displays are truly amazing. After months of hard work and creativity from the talented culinary teams, these displays are brought to life before our very eyes and are well worth the visit. Not that it was ever in doubt, the Grand Floridian is once again a must-visit resort during the holiday season at Walt Disney World with the return of the gingerbread house. After you check out the Grand Floridian gingerbread house construction, be sure to hop on the monorail to see if the other gingerbread displays are finished at other Deluxe resorts. Now, let’s blast off to Disney’s Contemporary Resort where their gingerbread display is back once again for its 12th year led by Pastry Chef Jeff Barnes!

A sign lists the ingredients used to construct the house including 1,050 lbs of honey, 600 lbs of powdered sugar, and 700 lbs of chocolate. Of course, while almost everything on the house is edible, you shouldn’t try to eat it. But gingerbread shingles and other treats are available for purchase from the house.

Since Christmas is, at its core, a holiday about caging birds, there are thankfully still a few of those in the tree. The Grand Gift Box will include many holiday favorite treats in one beautifully decorated box. The Disney Pastry Chefs version is a red velvet cake covered in dark chocolate buttercream. Red poinsettia flowers and a “Happy Holidays” placard decorate the top. Speaking of having a cup of hot chocolate – make it easy and delicious with this set of four hot chocolate bombs. Put one of these in a mug and pour over hot milk or if you really want a decadent cup of hot chocolate — light cream — and wait for the magic to happen.

Disney Eats: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Foodie Guide 2024
After I finished a few errands at Magic Kingdom, I decided I needed to burn a few calories after having such a hearty breakfast. So I thought I’d try my luck and walk over to the Grand Floridian to see if the gingerbread house was finished, landscaping and all. Let’s tour around this gingerbread masterpiece, and we’ll point out some of our favorite details! The EARidescent colors of Disney World’s 50th Celebration made their way into the design, with blue and gold accents everywhere, including a lot of blue plants around the house. Each of the offerings this year are just as stunning as the house itself. A fan-favorite offering each year is actually the Gingerbread Shingle, which is just like the shingles you’ll find on the roof of the house.

Given that it’s also Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, we’re betting on a decent amount of changes to the resort decor packages. Is visiting the Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa a holiday tradition? The traditional yule log cake is a sponge cake filled and rolled with buttercream. One end is cut off and placed on top to resemble a cut-off branch. It is then decorated with powdered sugar and meringue mushrooms.

Alternatively, if you have other reasons to be on Disney property, you can get to the hotel via Disney transportation from all four parks and from Disney Springs (Disney Springs, by the way, has free parking). You might enjoy the create-your-own gingerbread ornament kit for those who love arts, crafts, and food. For example, the white bar above the shop window is for a metal sign plaque that has not yet arrived.
Part of the spectacle of Christmas at Disney World is the gingerbread creations that manifest at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Chief among these is the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House—a life-sized gingerbread house filled with festive Cast Members ready to serve holiday treats. This gingerbread house truly is enormous, and it’s quite a sight! If you have time to stop by Grand Floridian during your holiday visit, it’s totally worth it. The sides of the house are covered in gingerbread siding, and the roofs have snow-dusted gingerbread shingles. Above the windows are decorative elements, including slates with Disney characters in various holiday scenes.

While the Gingerbread Ornament is a great option, it’s meant for decor and not a snack. It took 500 hours to bake the gingerbread, 480 hours of decorating, and over three days to construct it. And if you look closely, you’ll find lots of hidden gems, nods to classic Disney, and even hidden Santas. If you want a special treat to take home, the signature gingerbread house is $85.00.

Take home a piece of the magic (or eat it before you even get out of the lobby) with the purchase of a gingerbread shingle, just like those on the house. Aside from gingerbread, the other popular flavor of the season is peppermint. These shards of peppermint bark of dark and white chocolate with crushed peppermint candies sprinkled on top – will hit the spot. Whether you’re getting this for yourself or leaving it out for Santa on Christmas Eve, this gingerbread man has white chocolate eyes and mouth, and two red candy buttons.
That received almost zero fanfare, but was a nice improvement. Grand Floridian’s Victorian decor was refined and elegant prior to the refresh, but arguably a bit tired and (unintentionally) dated. Holiday Services has quietly been refreshing Christmas decoration packages around Walt Disney World for the last few years, and it’ll be interesting to see what gets plussed this year.
While I was taking photos, a bride and groom dressed as Princess Aurora and Prince Philip were having their pictures taken in the lobby. As for the gingerbread house, the second time around was a charm. Around the back of the house is the shop where you can purchase your holiday treats (complete with 50th celebration welcome mat!). Inside, the gingerbread house is stocked with everything from cupcakes to gingerbread shingles.
Cast members will take shifts inside the house, selling holiday treats between now and January 1, 2024. Check out the full lineup of gingerbread displays at Walt Disney World Resort, which will each open in the next few weeks. With just a couple of days to go until its official opening, this year’s gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa appears to be complete. Of all the things to make out of gingerbread, a bar probably isn’t the first to come to mind. Adults enjoyed Santa’s Tavern, the life-size bar made from 1400 pounds of cookie dough, which served seasonal cocktails including a classic mule spiced up with gingerbread liqueur.
If you want photos like mine in this post, going late at night is a must. This traditional German Christmas bread is typically a fruit bread of nuts, spices, and dried or candied fruit, coated with powdered sugar or icing sugar and often containing marzipan. During the Christmas season, the cake-like loaves are called Weihnachtsstollen or Christstollen. After all, it’s the reason for the house in the first place — a gingerbread shingle.
We love seeing celebrities have the time of their lives in Disney World, but they're... We noticed a weird trend in Disney World crowds, so we headed to the parks... There is electricity on inside and some of the first decor has started to go up. This year, the color palette is red and silver, with plenty of poinsettias and small silver wreath details.
This last Sunday afternoon, I visited Disney’s Grand Floridian, hoping that the gingerbread display was finished. Unfortunately, while the structure was completed, the landscaping had yet to be added. In this article, we visit Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to preview the 2022 gingerbread house.
The ship, manned by 10 nautical characters created with color fondant, paid tribute to the legends and lore of historic Amelia Island. When it comes to creating massive, one-of-a-kind houses (and more!) for the holidays, pastry chefs, and even architects pull out all the stops at these U.S. hotels pull out all the stops. Joining this impressive lineup this year is the Lighthouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. This brand-new creation was created by Pastry Chef de Cuisine Michael Craig who used the actual blueprints from the real lighthouse located outside the resort along Crescent Lake. This sweet version is not to be missed on your gingerbread festivities this year.
