All events are recorded in Harker's journal, which later serves his friends as a report about the vampire and as a travel guide. That night, Rachel invites Bellac to attend a Halloween costume party at the parish house the following day, but Bellac declines. Rachel later falls asleep while reading and has what seems to be a nightmare in which Bellac asks her to remove Jennie's crucifix pendant from her neck and offers her eternal life. In the morning, Rachel finds the crucifix lying on the floor, suspecting it was not a dream.

Meanwhile, the count tries to seduce Milizia and make her a vampire, but Milizia wards him off with a cross. The doctor interrupts to explain he has found strange antibodies in the count's blood, requiring another transfusion. Edelmann's assistant Nina shadows Milizia and discovers that the count casts no reflection in a mirror. During the procedure, the count uses his hypnotic powers to put Edelmann and Nina to sleep. He reverses the flow of the transfusion, sending his own blood into the doctor's veins.

That night, Lawrence Talbot arrives at the castle demanding to see Dr. Edelmann about a cure for his lycanthropy. Talbot is told to wait, but knowing the moon is rising, has himself incarcerated by the police. Inspector Holtz asks the doctor to see Talbot, and, as the full moon rises, they both witness his transformation into the Wolf Man.

The day after Bellac's arrival, Mickey's beloved cat goes missing and is subsequently found mutilated in an abandoned mineshaft. Castle Dracula is the fictitious Transylvanian residence of Count Dracula, the vampire antagonist in Bram Stoker's 1897 horror novel Dracula. The Wolf Man and Count Dracula beg Dr. Edelman to cure them of their killing instincts but Dracula schemes to seduce the doctor's nurse. Obviously, the show will continue to track the Targaryen lineage about 300 years prior to near-extinction level on Game of Thrones.

Historian Gregory Mank described it as "the final serious entry of Universal's Frankenstein saga".[3] It received predominantly negative reviews in its early New York screenings, while retrospective reviews have been predominantly lukewarm. House of Dracula is a 1945 American horror film released and distributed by Universal Pictures. Directed by Erle C. Kenton, the film features several Universal Horror properties meeting as they had done in the 1944 film House of Frankenstein. The film is set at the castle home of Dr. Franz Edelmann, who is visited first by Count Dracula and later by Larry Talbot, the Wolf Man, who are trying to cure their vampirism and lycanthropy, respectively.

The film would pave the way for AIP’s other popular modern-day bloodsucker, BLACULA (which repurposes footage of Yorga’s coffin making its way stateside) as well as 1973’s SCREAM BLACULA, SCREAM. Quarry would appear in another independent production, THE DEATHMASTER in 1973 which featured the actor as a vampire hippie guru modeled after Charles Manson. One final note, the grandchildren of Lupita Tovar and Paul Kohner, the filmmakers Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy A Better Life, Fatherhood) are writing and directing Spanish Dracula, what else but the love story of their grandparents and the filming of the Spanish version. (5) Needless to say, the screening of the 1931 Drácula at the Billy Wilder Theater, the home of public programs of the UCLA Film & Television Archive, on October 29, will be a thrill for aficionados of the horror genre and Halloween. Game of Thrones captivated audiences like almost no other TV series since the turn of the century, but its final season left us with a disappointing ending. Luckily, we only had to wait a couple of years before HBO would announce a prequel series titled House of the Dragon.

Season one opens with King Viserys struggling to name a successor for his seat on the Iron Throne. He didn’t have a male heir in line nor was he willing to hand the reigns over to his volatile brother, Daemon. After much deliberation, Viserys finally chose his daughter Rhaenyra in a desperate bid to keep the Targaryen rule intact. Viserys’ decision to name a female heir was unusual in a male-dominated lineage, causing him to draw criticism from far and wide.

Talbot is eventually cured, which leads him to discover the body of Frankenstein's monster in a cave below the base of the castle. Edelemann takes the monster's body back to his laboratory but finds Count Dracula has awakened and by attacking his assistants, he captures Edelmann and forces a reverse blood transfusion, which gives Edelmann a split personality and makes him a killer. Bram Stoker's Dracula, published in 1897, stands as a seminal work in the Gothic horror genre and has left an indelible mark on popular culture. The novel, written in an epistolary format, recounts the story of Count Dracula's attempt to move from Transylvania to England to spread the undead curse.

More than a low-budget footnote, COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE is a highly influential take on the vampire mythos, eschewing spooky Victorian castles by bringing the bloodsuckers to contemporary Los Angeles. Its gory, sexy modern sensibility would go on to inspire American International Pictures’ releases throughout the ’70s, as well as ‘80s vampire classics and beyond. Count Dracula arrives at the seaside Visarian home of Dr. Franz Edelman, a renowned surgeon, in hopes of finding a cure for his vampirism. After viewing Dracula's coffin and discovering an unknown parasite in his blood, the initially skeptical Edelman agrees to take the vampire's case.

The doctor kills Holtz by accidental electrocution, and Talbot shoots Edelmann dead. Talbot starts a fire that traps the monster and the townspeople flee the burning castle. Count Dracula arrives at the castle home of Dr. Franz Edelmann and explains he has come to Visaria to find a cure for his vampirism. Dr. Edelmann agrees to help, believing a series of blood transfusions may heal him.

That excised chapter is presented here in its original place, leading into the classic narrative as an added enjoyment for devoted Dracula readers. One would think a movie called the “best horror film of the year” by Gene Siskel of the Chicago Tribune would end up on countless “greatest horror films” lists. Yet COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE has found itself a B-movie oddity, relegated to late, late showings on UHF stations throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s and all but forgotten — if ever seen — by a generation that reveled in the modern horror era of slashers and special makeup effects.

Despondent at the thought of becoming the Wolf Man again, Talbot attempts suicide by jumping into the ocean, only to end up in a cave below the castle. The ‘80s saw a slew of modern-day vampire tales with Tony Scott’s THE HUNGER bringing them to New York’s goth scene, NEAR DARK to the Wild West, and FRIGHT NIGHT transporting the legend even closer to home—next door to a suburban teenage horror fan. Fifty years — and countless modern takes on vampire legends from comic books to television to film — it’s easy to overlook its influence, but COUNT YORGA, VAMPIRE remains an influential vampire flick that fans of the genre should sink their teeth into. YORGA was a surprise hit for AIP in the summer of 1970, appealing to both audiences and critics. In addition to Siskel’s glowing review for the Chicago Tribune, Roger Greenspun of the New York Times called Quarry “the best chief vampire I have seen in years.” Kenneth Thompson of The Monthly Film Bulletin praised the acting and direction, comparing YORGA to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

1970 saw Christopher Lee return as Count Dracula in not one but two Hammer entries, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA and SCARS OF DRACULA. Meanwhile, in-house director Roy Ward Baker directed Ingrid Pitt in THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, which featured explicit lesbian eroticism. The times were a-changing, and audiences found themselves growing bored with the boilerplate vampire tales that low-budget studios had been cranking out through the ‘60s.

The film was developed initially with the title Wolf Man vs. Dracula to be directed by Ford Beebe with Bela Lugosi reprising his role of Count Dracula. After actor Boris Karloff returned for a two-film deal with Universal and several requests from the censorship board, the film was put on hold for nearly six months. House of Dracula went into production directed by Kenton with a screenplay by Edward T. Lowe, who took elements from the Wolf Man vs. Dracula script while adding in Frankenstein's monster (from Frankenstein) to the plot. Many cast and crew members returned from House of Frankenstein, including John Carradine in the role of Count Dracula, Glenn Strange as the monster, and Lon Chaney Jr. as both the Wolf Man and Larry Talbot. The film uses large sections of music from previous Universal feature films and footage, sets and props from other early Universal horror films.
